Basketball coach. Author. Founder of Boost Innovation. Executive Director of Calgary Minor Basketball. If you searched my name and landed here, you found the Ken King who coaches, writes and builds in Calgary.
Before the books and the software, there were film sessions at midnight and bus rides home after losses. I coached university basketball across Canada for fifteen years. Four programs. Three provinces. A lot of timeouts.
Here's what that job teaches you. The scoreboard tells you what happened. It almost never tells you why. The why lives in how a kid carries himself after a turnover, or the second the huddle goes quiet. Every coach I know can feel it. Almost none of us could prove it.
That gap is the reason everything else on this site exists.
I run the Calgary Minor Basketball Association as Executive Director, which means a lot of kids, a lot of volunteer coaches and never enough gym time. I'm also Boys Director at Calgary Basketball Academy.
I founded Boost Innovation to build the tool I wanted as a coach. Our flagship, the GRW Project, reads composure and presence from ordinary video. Proof of Impact, Crest and the Boost Mindset apps grew out of the same idea.
And I teach at Mount Royal University, where the students keep me honest.
I write the books I wish someone had handed me in my first year on the bench. Plain language. Real numbers. No motivational poster stuff.
The newest, Pyramid Scheme, is the one I've been building toward for twenty years. It's the story of how organized sport became an empire, why it's collapsing from the grassroots up and how we rebuild the game around the kids.
I speak to coaches, sport organizations, HR teams and leadership groups about the part of performance nobody measures. Six talks, each built for a different room.
